Online Safety

The world of technology is ever changing and it can be hard to keep up with it all. Technology is a part of our children's lives, both for leisure and education and when used for it's intended purposes, it is an amazing tool.

This year for Internet Safety Day 2026, the focus was on AI (Artificial Intelligence). It is important to remind children that what they read and view online, isn't always real, it could have been created using AI. Your child may be more at risk of being exposed to AI content if they have access to social media. Social media platforms have age restrictions to keep children safe. To have a Tiktok, Instagram or Snapchat account you must be 13 years old and these apps have age appropriate restrictions put in place for users age 13-18.

There are numerous reports that stress the importance of limiting screen time for children and encouraging parents to be proactive in monitoring how children are using technology and what they are viewing. This can be tricky when you as a parent aren't sure on how to do this. Below are some resources that may assist with this.
