Pets and Vets

6th Jun 2026

P1&2 have concluded their Pets and Vets topic and it was a busy one!

We carried out some science experiments which involved making predictions and writing up our method and results. We tested the absorbency of some materials to see which was the best bedding for a pet and also learned about the importance of hygiene and did a germ experiment.

We used our ICT skills to create fact books on book creator and used Beebot to travel round our park maps we designed.

We used our measuring skills to do a vet report on a pet and created some X-rays using pasta.

We all enjoyed our visit to Fairgreen Veterinary Practice where we got to chat to the vets and nurses who showed us the oxygen and X-ray machines. Thank you to the kind staff who gave all the children a goody bag! We have to also say a big thank you to Joey the lamb as she allowed us to listen to her heart and pet her- she had a great deal of patience!

Have a look at all the learning that has taken place over the last few weeks!
